Our young person was identified in need of extra support after Carefree made a welfare telephone call at the start of lockdown. During the call, the young person mentioned how they wanted access to online learning and were also struggling with poor mental health. Due to their age they were no longer eligible for certain services and they were feeling the strain.
After signing up to the Ambitions project we were able to liaise with Jigsaw and arrange a block of telephone counselling sessions for this young person. Our participant is also a young parent, which meant we were able to broker an agreement with Wild young parent’s project to extend support, even though they fell just outside their age bracket.
The project was able to go further and thanks to Carefree our participant was able to gain access to a laptop. This enabled them to start an online, Level 2 course in Health & Social Care and made it far easier to keep in touch with friends and family. It is so rewarding to see our young person starting to thrive.
